Code of Conduct

Welcome to Sletten, a celebration of the past that we shape together. We embrace the principles of mutual respect, collective responsibility, and authentic historical engagement. As we co-create this experience, we bring to life the amazing event that is Sletten Vikings.

Community Spirit

  • Consider every participant as a fellow enthusiast. Together we are the Sletten community, shaping shared experiences and lasting memories.
  • Lend a hand if you spot someone grappling with their equipment, camp or tent. Our strength lies in helping each other. In adverse weather, extend your hospitality. Offer a dry spot in your camp to those in need.
  • Cherish the diversity our gathering offers. Varied backgrounds and perspectives enrich our collective Sletten experience.
  • Foster trust and open-mindedness. Aim for clarity and understanding to avoid misunderstandings and conflicts.

Respect for Spaces

  • Treat each camp as a personal space. Use designated paths when moving between encampments and respect the boundaries of others.
  • After visiting another camp, take your waste with you. We all contribute to keeping Sletten clean and pleasant.
  • Honor personal boundaries. If a person or camp wishes for privacy, respect their request.
  • If you accidentally damage something, help to fix or replace it. We value accountability for our actions.

Preserving Authenticity

  • Aim to uphold an authentic period appropriate ambiance. Store modern equipment or plastic items in your tent when not in use.
  • Keep modern items like plastic, cans or bottles out of sight. Use linen bags for transportation and traditional vessels for drinking.
  • Upon arrival and departure, assist each other to unload and load vehicles quickly and efficiently to maintain the authenticity of our camp.
  • When returning from modern-day errands, don your historical attire as soon as possible. We are here to embrace the historical era. The local supermarkets know we are here, and are cool with you in full authentic gear. It might even get you some freebies.

Active Contribution

  • Be proactive. If you spot litter, unclean facilities, or broken equipment, contribute to fixing the issue. As active participants, we maintain our shared environment.
  • The Organizing Team are fellow attendees, volunteering their time and effort. Assist in resolving issues, don’t just report them.
  • While our event is steeped in history, we adhere to all modern laws and regulations set by official institutions.

Navigating Disagreements

  • Approach disagreements with respect and understanding. Communicate openly, honestly, and calmly to resolve conflicts constructively.
  • Always strive for compromise. We’re all here to enjoy and contribute to the event, so let’s maintain a harmonious atmosphere.
  • If your disagreement is related to fighting, first try to resolve it with the person, you have the disagreement with. If that fails, try to approach their training officer or group leader. If that fails too, contact the War Team.
  • If you find yourself in a conflict you cannot resolve on your own, please contact the Orga Team. We will try to mediate the conflict and have sanction options available. Sletten should be a safe environment for all.

Respecting Our Environment

  • Protect the natural environment that hosts our camp. Limit waste, respect local flora and fauna, and leave no trace of your presence.

Civilians

  • The natue park Sletten is set up in, is a public area, and people, “civilans”, are allowed to be there. However, the camp and other ares that we use during Sletten (battle fields, ranges, facilities etc.) are off limits to civilians and unregistred visitors.
  • Regardless, always extend respect and openness to tourists, locals, and other guests. We are ambassadors of the historical reenactment community.
  • We represent our community with respect and dignity, even as we remain true to our own interests and expectations.

At Sletten, we emphasize the historical accuracy and educational value of our reenactments. We encourage you to learn, ask questions, and share knowledge, enhancing our collective journey into the past.

Together, we make Sletten an unforgettable experience!
