Photography Guidelines

Sletten is a private event for us, by us, and of course, every participant is allowed to take pictures for their private use or things like Facebook. However, we ask that you be mindful and respectful of both the people and the atmosphere we are trying to create and maintain.

Slipping out a mobile phone to catch a great memory is fine. Lugging around a huge DSLR camera and bag everywhere is not. And if you plan on using your pictures commercially, selling or otherwise, that is a different story and will fall under the following rules.

Authorized Photographers

Only photographers authorized by Sletten are permitted to undertake professional photography at the event. Professional in this context refers to people with professional or semi-professional camera equipment. Importantly, as an authorized photographer, you are covered by the general consent.

Image Sharing and Danish Law

If you plan to use the pictures commercially, you must ensure that the photographed individuals have given their consent.

Please note that according to Danish law, photos taken in a public space are free to share without consent. However the campground is NOT a prublic space during the event.

Participants have, upon registration, given consent for authorized photographers (see point 1) to use and publish images from Sletten 2023.

Respect for Privacy

Respect the privacy of all participants. Do not take photos of individuals in vulnerable or intimate situations without their consent.

Likewise, if a participant, group, or family asks you not to take pictures of them, either at a specific time or in general, you must respect their wish, even though they have given general consent upon registration.

Children's Privacy

Photographing children should be done with the knowledge of their parents or guardians. Avoid taking pictures of partially or fully undressed children.

Handling of Emergencies

Do not take photos of injuries, accidents, or emergency situations. Your first priority should be to seek help if you come across such situations.

Respect for Reenactment Culture

Remember that Sletten is a cultural event. Respect the time and effort that participants have put into their costumes, equipment, and conduct.

Your equipment should be as discreet as possible and ideally covered with historically authentic materials.

No Flash or Sound

The use of flash is strictly prohibited at all times. Turn off any sound effects and indicators.

Special Ceremonies and Moments

Some groups conduct various ceremonies and the like at Sletten. These ceremonies are usually private, closed, or secret. If you wish to photograph at one of the ceremonies, you must have explicit approval from the group or groups’ leader.

Professional Conduct

Behave professionally, respectfully, and considerately at all times. Your behavior should reflect the positive spirit and values of Sletten.

Sharing on Social Media

Feel free to share images on social media. We ask all photographers to tag the pictures or albums with #SlettenVikings and to share the pictures on our Facebook.

Drone photography

While we all find it interesting to see ourselves from a bird’s point of view, drones are noisy and a big modern disturbance. Due to this reason alone, we do not allow drone photography.

However, if you happen to be the owner of a very stealthy state of the art drone, a special permit can be granted by the Orga Team. Reach out to Emma through emma@slettenvikings.dk.

Drone flying is regulated in Denmark, and you as the drone pilot are responsible for being up to date on rules, regulations and licensing. Read more about it here: https://www.droneregler.dk/english
