Photography Guidelines

At Sletten, we value privacy, immersion and participant comfort highly. These guidelines apply to both photography and filming/video recording.

Many participants come to Sletten because it feels separate from everyday life and social media. Both visible and discreet cameras can affect comfort and behaviour in camp, especially when people are unsure if recording is taking place. Because filming is harder to supervise than ordinary photography, we are intentionally restrictive regarding video recording at the event. Please help us preserve the atmosphere that makes Sletten special.

Thank you!

Definition of Professional Equipment

Professional or semi-professional equipment includes cameras with interchangeable lenses, video rigs, stabilizers, lighting equipment, drones, GoPros, wearable cameras and other equipment intended for content production.

The organizers reserve the right to decide what falls under this category.

Authorized Photographers

Only authorised photographers may use professional or semi-professional equipment at Sletten. Filming projects are generally not permitted unless approved beforehand by the organizers. Approved photographers are expected to be respectful, discreet and follow instructions from the organizers at all times.

Only the Orga Team can authorize photographers. Reach out to emma@slettenvikings.dk if you have any questions.

Image Sharing and Danish Law

Please remember that Danish law still applies at Sletten. Commercial or promotional use of photos and video requires consent from the people featured. Participants should never unexpectedly appear in advertisements, sponsored content or commercial media.

Respect for Privacy

The camp is not considered a public festival space during Sletten. Please be respectful when photographing or filming near camps and private gatherings. If anyone asks not to be photographed or filmed, that request must always be respected immediately.

Children's Privacy

Please show extra care when photographing or filming children. Avoid close-up or identifiable content involving children unless clearly appropriate. Share photos with parental consent.

Handling of Emergencies

During accidents or emergencies, cameras and filming equipment must be put away.

Do not photograph or film injured, distressed or vulnerable individuals.

Respect for Reenactment Culture

Photography and filming should never interfere with immersion or participant comfort.

Avoid intrusive camera behaviour, excessive staging or turning Sletten into a content production environment.

No Flash or Sound

Flash photography is not allowed. Bright lighting, speaker playback and intrusive recording equipment should be avoided. Photography and filming after dark are generally discouraged unless approved beforehand.

Special Ceremonies and Moments

Some ceremonies and personal moments may be private or sensitive. Always ask before photographing or filming these situations. If organizers or participants ask for cameras to be lowered, this must be respected immediately.

Professional Conduct

Approved photographers are expected to act respectfully and transparently at all times.

Participant comfort should always come before getting footage or photos. Repeated complaints may result in revoked approval.

Sharing on Social Media

Please think carefully before sharing material publicly. Avoid sharing embarrassing, vulnerable or heavily intoxicated individuals, and avoid tagging people without permission.

We encourage thoughtful and respectful sharing, and to remember that Sletten is a closed, private event. We do not want to go viral, and accidentally attract the attention of the general public.

Drones, GoPros and Other

Drones are not permitted unless specifically approved beforehand. GoPros, body cameras and similar continuous recording devices are treated as filming equipment and are therefore not generally permitted.

Even small or discreet cameras can make participants uncomfortable, especially when it is unclear whether recording is taking place. If in doubt about equipment or recording methods, please ask the organizers before use.

Permission for drones, GoPros and similar equipment must be obtained beforehand. Reach out to emma@slettenvikings.dk to ask if there are available spots, and what specific rules might apply.
