Hello (crafty) Vikings!

This year at Sletten we have a dedicated track for craftmanship and sharing of knowledge. We plan to fill the week with workshops where you can learn about a multitude of different crafts. We have already found an amazing group of people willing to teach, but are always hoping to host more workshops.

What is a workshop at Sletten?
At Sletten the concept of a workshop is not a one size fits all, and we welcome all kinds of teaching situations and teachers.

The most common formats are:

  • Workshops, often around 1-3 hours, hosted either at the central awning or in a camp, where the teacher supply materials and/or tools, and everybody gets to get their hands full.
  • Expert lectures, where the teacher tells about a special field of expertise, but the students do not participate in the craft.
  • Mini-apprenticeships where 1-2 people follow a craftsman doing their craft for a defined period of time, and participate as possible.
  • Group discussions, where likeminded people can meet and discuss a subject, perhaps bringing examples or samples.

Payments vary depending on the teachers wishes and material costs, but is always handled between students and teacher.

Kick off meeting

As the craftmanship division of Sletten is quite young, we will also be hosting a kick off meeting, where we can meet and discuss how we would like to shape the future of crafts at Sletten, and help any spontaneous ideas get

How do you join?

If you have a craft you want to teach, be it in any format, please reach out to mette@slettenvikings.dk and we will help coordinate.

All the best!
